Letter from the President May 2024 Letter from the President May 2024 Letter from the President May 2024

3 May 2024

Dear Yale-NUS community and friends,

As the academic year draws to a close, we are grateful for the many activities that have kept our community spirit alive and strong. Some highlights of the past year include the inaugural TEDx talk and the Global Liberal Arts Education symposium, in addition to talks such as the Rector’s Tea and Dinner Conversation Series, and also the launch of the Yale-NUS Legacy website. In the latest Joint Autonomous Universities Graduate Employment Survey (JAUGES), about 90% of our fresh graduates secured employment within six months of completing their final examinations, with a median gross monthly salary of $4,300. The year also heralded exciting student initiatives such as the move of popular student-run coffee cart Brewhouse to a more permanent space, student and alumni performances at international festivals, and more.

I am so excited for the Class of 2024 and look forward to attending the Graduation ceremony on 17 May and celebrating the graduating class’s journey in these four years. I can’t wait to see what they will accomplish in time to come. For those of you who will be joining us in-person, I look forward to seeing you soon. Otherwise, the event will be live-streamed on our Youtube channel, and I hope you can join us online to celebrate the Class of 2024.

I am pleased to share that the Legacy sculpture, a commemorative sculpture that celebrates Yale-NUS, is now in production and will be installed on our campus grounds in August. We will be sharing more updates on the unveiling ceremony in the months ahead.

Lastly, thank you for your strong support for Yale-NUS College and do continue to stay connected with us.

Sincerely,

Joanne Roberts
President, Yale-NUS College
