Building Relationships

“Our first year of the inception of the College was getting out there and explaining Liberal Arts in Asia and Yale-NUS College. Given the number, quality, and diversity of applications we received this year, I can tell that our messages were well-received. This year, we seek to build upon the relationships we’ve made,” Kristin shared.

Kristin has been serving as Deputy Dean at Yale-NUS since October 2012. She was actively involved in several rounds of admissions exercises and outreach activities in the past months and is taking in what the team has learnt in its first year and building upon the relationships and work processes. As Dean, Kristin will lead the College’s Admissions and Financial Aid Office and oversee all aspects of outreach in Singapore and key international markets for recruitment, communications, evaluation and selection of applicants, technology use and overall admissions strategy. Kristin looks forward to taking admissions at the College to new heights, particularly in promoting the value of a liberal arts education and highlighting the unique opportunities offered by Yale-NUS. While she is keen on deepening ties with the schools in Singapore, she is also looking at expanding international outreach to include new parts of the world, such as the Middle East.

Kristin comes from a business background and has worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers consulting for business firms on financial business processes, and Eduventures, a consultancy for institutions of higher education. She joined Merrimack College as Vice President of Enrollment Management, Planning and Strategy. It was a combination of her liberal arts background and her business sensitivities that attracted her to Yale-NUS, where she wanted to bring the best practices of holistic admissions to the team, and also apply her business skills in planning the overall admissions strategy.

She adds, “My liberal arts education and international experiences prepared me for my diverse career path. I therefore appreciate and understand what the Yale-NUS education stands for. I really treasure this incredible opportunity to be part of building a new innovative educational model for the 21st century. It’s an honour to be part of such a dynamic, creative, and diverse team.”
