Yale-NUS College announces Governing Board
Asian business leader Kay Kuok chairs board comprising private and public sector leaders from Singapore and the USA
The Yale-NUS College (Yale-NUS) today announced the members of its founding Governing Board. Leading the Board is Asian business leader Madam Kay Kuok, the widely-respected Executive Chairman of Shangri-La Hotel Limited and a member of National University of Singapore’s (NUS) Board of Trustees. Other members of the Board include industry leaders from Singapore and the USA, a senior official from the Singapore Ministry of Education, a leading liberal arts college president and the presidents of Yale University and NUS.
The 10 members of the Yale-NUS Governing Board will serve three-year terms from 2011.
Yale-NUS College, an autonomous school of NUS, was established in April this year in a launch witnessed by Singapore Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong. The School is a landmark collaboration between Yale University and NUS, and the first campus outside New Haven, Connecticut by Yale.

The Yale-NUS campus will be built next to NUS’ University Town along Clementi Road, in close proximity to world-class research and entrepreneurial hubs as well as the NUS Kent Ridge Campus. About 150 students are expected to matriculate in August 2013. Yale-NUS will be home to 1,000 students at steady state.
The Yale-NUS Governing Board is expected to provide strategic direction and oversight of the College, and will be instrumental in the appointment of the College President and faculty.
