In the last few years, European countries have been swept by a tide of radical- right populism. Typically, its dominant theme has been anti-immigration and anti-EU. Spain, which has witnessed both left-wing and nationalist-separatist populism, has been an exception to this rule until recently. Why has this been the case?

Jose Ignacio Torreblanca is Professor of Political Science at UNED University in Madrid and Head of the European Council on Foreign Relations, Madrid Office.

The talk will be followed by a discussion with Sudhir Thomas Vadaketh, Singaporean writer and author of Floating on a Malayan Breeze: Travels in Malaysia and Singapore.
