For this session, Geoff Dyer will be reading a piece of writing called White Sands that is part-essay, part-travelogue and part-story, and set in the American west. It has been published in a magazine but has not yet been collected in a book by Dyer.
ABOUT GEOFF DYER
British writer Geoff Dyer is the author of many books including But Beautiful: A Book About Jazz (winner of the Somerset Maugham Prize), The Ongoing Moment (winner of the ICP Infinity Award for writing on photography), Jeff in Venice, Death in Varanasi and Zona. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, his many awards include the E. M. Forster Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Lannan Literary Fellowship and, most recently, a National Book Critics Circle Award for the essay collection Otherwise Known as the Human Condition. His books have been translated into twenty-four languages.
