Wound healing, calcium signaling, and other novel pathways are associated with the formation of butterfly eyespots, BMC Genomics, 16 October 2017

Yale-NUS Associate Professor of Science (Biology) Antónia Monteiro’s research on butterflies was published in BMC Genomics, a research journal under BioMed Central. Co-authored with Nesibe Özsu, PhD candidate at the Department of Biological Sciences, National University of Singapore, the study investigated the set of genes associated with the development of eyespot colour patterns, a trait that originated once within the Nymphalid family of butterflies.
