Primetime Asia – Gun lobbying and Vegas shooting, Channel NewsAsia, 3 October 2017

Lecturer in Global Affairs Catherine Sanger was interviewed live on Channel NewsAsia’s Primetime Asia for her expert comments on gun ownership and control in the United States. The topic was in focus due to the recent mass shootings in Las Vegas. Dr Sanger shared her views on President Donald Trump’s stance on gun ownership, noting the deep links that the National Rifle Association had with American politics as a result of its funding, highlighting it was a “well-organised, entrenched lobby group”. She also shared that the US’ political system “is built to be porous, it is built to be responsive and increasingly, it is built to be susceptible to the influence of money”.

The clip aired on Channel NewsAsia’s Primetime Asia segment on 3 October, 7pm.
