The Straits Times published an article on the plans for a memorial to honour the pioneer leaders of Singapore with a committee calling for ideas on how the Founders’ Memorial, which will be located at a five-hectare site in Bay East Garden in Gardens by the Bay, should look. Yale-NUS President Professor Tan Tai Yong is one of the five new members who has been added to the Founders’ Memorial Committee (FMC). At a media conference, Prof Tan said that he hopes the project will capture Singapore’s journey to independence and the decades after. And that the intention of the committee is not to black out or whitewash some parts of history and that they want to capture as much as possible the complexities of the stories. Lianhe Zaobao, Berita Mediacorp, Berita Harian, TODAY and Yahoo News carried similar reports.
