Commentary: Here’s what months of food deliveries and takeaways have taught us, CNA, 21 June 2020

CNA carried a commentary co-authored by Yale-NUS student Coco Oan (Class of 2022) about the negative impact that COVID-19 has on zero-waste efforts in Singapore, as the circuit breaker measures led to a spike in the use of single-use packaging. However, it also led to greater awareness about the use of such consumables, and new initiatives by businesses and consumers to move towards more sustainable forms of packaging. Coco noted that these developments were encouraging, but that more could still be done to move towards a reduction of waste.

The article noted that both Coco and her co-author are members of Project bECOme, a youth-run organisation that works to promote environmental sustainability among businesses and consumers.
