Citizen Science and the Case Study of Smooth-coated Otters in Singapore, BFM: The Business Radio Station, 21 November 2016

Yale-NUS Assistant Professor of Science Philip Johns discussed with BFM Radio – The Business Station about smooth-coated otters which have returned to Singapore a few years ago after a long absence. An extremely active group of enthusiasts, both scientists and nonscientists, have been following the otters antics and contributing to ‘Citizen Science’. Dr Johns shared more about this phenomenon, where technology and online conventions have enabled people to collect a large quantity of high quality behavioural data that scientists may not necessarily have had access to, and how Citizen Science is a new frontier in scientific research.
