Laura Severin is the Dean of Admissions & Financial Aid. In this role, Ms Severin oversees the recruitment, selection and financial support of Yale-NUS students. She works with the Admissions and Financial Aid teams to ensure Yale-NUS honours the College’s commitment to a holistic admission process, need-blind admissions and continued support of enrolled students.
Ms Severin came to Yale-NUS College in 2013 with over 10 years of experience in international admissions. Ms Severin served as Associate Dean of Admissions/Director of International Recruitment at Swarthmore College (US), where her primary focus was on international recruitment. She was also responsible for prospective student communication. She started in admissions at Lehigh University (US), where she recruited both domestic and international students, as well as led the University’s selection of international financial aid and scholarship recipients.
Ms Severin serves on the International Association for College Admission Counseling’s Inclusion, Access and Success Committee. She also served as member and chair of the Council of International School’s (CIS) Committee on Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In this role, she has led group recruitment trips in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey. She currently serves on the CIS Forum Planning Committee.
Ms Severin graduated from Dickinson College, where she gained a deep appreciation of the liberal arts and sciences. She spent one year studying at City University, London, which piqued her interest in international education.
