Professor Marla Geha is interested in the origin and evolution of galaxies to answer questions in astrophysics and cosmology. In her research, she uses the world’s largest telescopes to study the universe’s smallest galaxies. Her current work includes observations of ultra-faint galaxies recently discovered in the Local Group. These objects are the least-massive and most dark-matter dominated galaxies in the known Universe, and the goal of Geha’s research group is to use these objects to answer fundamental questions in astrophysics and cosmology.
