John Wargo

Professor Wargo specialises in environmental law, with a focus on human health. He has concentrated on the susceptibility of children and pregnant women to environmental hazards, and has conducted research to evaluate the effectiveness of law in reducing environmental threats to human health. His studies have evaluated methods reducing human exposures to pesticides, vehicle emissions, toxins in foods, plastics, flame-retardants, metals, and chemicals in built environments. Professor Wargo teaches in the area of environmental law, politics, and human health risk assessment. He has published a number of books and testified before or advised national and international organisations such as the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.N.’s World Health Organization, and Food & Agriculture Organization
