Eric Dufresne’s research is focused on experimental soft matter physics. His lab is currently investigating mechanics and self-assembly in synthetic and biological systems. From 2012-2014, he served as the inaugural Director of the Center for Engineering Innovation and Design.
Dufresne has won the Dylan Hixon ’88 Prize for Teaching Excellence in the Natural Sciences from Yale College, the Graduate Mentor Award in the Natural Sciences from the Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and the Soft Matter Lectureship from the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Dufresne graduated from Yale College in 1996, earned his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Before returning to Yale, he started a company, worked as a management consultant, and served as a post-doctoral researcher at Harvard University.
