Tuition and Fees

Yale-NUS gives its students access to a remarkable and affordable education, offering diverse opportunities for global study and internships and culminating in an exceptional value for our students when compared to leading colleges abroad.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees per semester# for Yale-NUS' first intake in 2013 is as follows:

Singapore Citizens (SC) Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) International Students (IS)
S$7,500 per semester S$10,500 per semester S$15,000 per semester

# There are two semesters within one academic year. The typical duration of studies in Yale-NUS College is 4 years.

These tuition fees will be cohort-based and be fixed for each cohort from year of admission until graduation four years later. National Servicemen in Singapore will pay the tuition fees relevant in the year they accept Yale-NUS' offer of admission.

Tuition Grant and Supplementary Fee

In 1980, the Government of Singapore introduced the Tuition Grant Scheme to subsidize the cost of tertiary education in Singapore. Singapore Permanent residents and international students who are eligible and intend to take up the tuition grant must sign a Tuition Grant Agreement, which will require them to work for a Singapore-registered company for three years upon graduation from Yale-NUS College. Tuition grant students may work for a Singapore-registered company abroad so long as they remain on payroll in Singapore.

The grant significantly defrays the cost of a Yale-NUS education and is already reflected in the S$15,000 per semester tuition fees for international students and S$10,500 for Singapore Permanent Residents stated above.

Those international students and permanent residents who do not wish to take up this government subsidy and work in Singapore, or with a Singapore-registered company, after graduation are required to pay a supplementary fee of S$7,920 per semester. These students will not be bound by the 3-year work obligation and will have the option of paying the supplementary fee in cash or covering the fee through access to a reasonable loan program offered by Yale-NUS.

Residential College Fees

All students at Yale-NUS will live on campus in one of our three distinctive Residential Colleges. The fees for this immersive living and learning experience are S$3,530 per semester for all students. This includes a single room in a 6-bedroom suite and all meals in the Yale-NUS dining hall facility.

All students admitted to Yale-NUS in 2013 and 2014 will be awarded a Community Scholarship which covers 50% (S$1,765 per semester) of the cost of the Residential College fees. Click here for more information on merit scholarships at Yale-NUS.

Miscellaneous Fees
All students are charged miscellaneous fees which help to defray the cost of student activity, health services and insurance, campus shuttle service and other services. As of now, we are estimating that Singapore citizens will pay S$191 in fees per annum while international citizens will pay S$271 per annum. These fees are subject to change.
