Over the weekend, future students of Yale-NUS will sample the intellectual rigor of classes taught by our top faculty, engage in discussions and taste the breadth and depth of the Yale-NUS academic experience. It’s also an opportunity to connect with Yale-NUS leadership, faculty, recently graduated Yale upperclassmen, and future classmates.

Experience Yale-NUS Dates

We will invite all admitted students to an Experience Yale-NUS Weekend and provide accommodation, meals and travel within Singapore. If a student accepts the invitation to participate and resides outside of Singapore at the time, we are happy to see how we can facilitate his or her travel. Invitations are for specific Experience Yale-NUS Weekends (depending on the Round in which a student applies and is admitted) and we are only able to entertain requests for different dates on a case-by-case basis. The tentative dates for Experience Yale-NUS Weekends in 2013 are:

Round 1: January 19 and 20, 2013

Round 2: April 13 and 14, 2013

Round 3: May 18 and 19, 2013

Travel Arrangements

Students residing outside of Singapore are encouraged to arrive the day before Experience Yale-NUS Weekend. We are happy to facilitate travel and accommodation logistics. Once admitted, students will hear more about this process from the Yale-NUS Office of Admissions & Financial Aid. 

Students residing outside of Singapore who accept an invitation to Experience Yale-NUS Weekend must have a valid passport which will remain valid for at least six months after their scheduled departure. Some individuals may require a visa and Yale-NUS College is happy to assist in the application process. 1.    What is Experience Yale-NUS Weekend?

Experience Yale-NUS is a weekend event only for admitted students to Yale-NUS. Experience Yale-NUS will introduce students to the exciting, groundbreaking possibilities that Yale-NUS’ unique and powerful education will offer them. Attendees will take sample classes of the Common Curriculum with world-class faculty and spend time with recently graduated Yale upperclassmen from New Haven and Southeast Asia. There will be plenty of time to speak with the admissions team and College leadership.

2.    Will I get to take a class during Experience Yale-NUS Weekend?

Yes, our world-class faculty will teach sample classes from the Common Curriculum. You'll get a taste of the breadth, depth, and rigor of academic life at Yale-NUS and the level of engagement you should expect with your professors.

3.    If I am invited to Experience Yale-NUS Weekend, can my parents attend?

If your parents would like to travel with you to Experience Yale-NUS Weekend, they are welcome to do so, at their own expense. There are dedicated portions of the program at which parents and guardians are welcome, if they are able to attend. However, most of the program for the weekend is exclusively for our students as we want them to spend the weekend immersed in classes, activities and getting to know their future classmates.

4.    Can I apply to attend Experience Yale-NUS?

Experience Yale-NUS is a weekend event exclusively for students who have applied to Yale-NUS and who have received an offer of admission. 5.    Will I have to pay for Experience Yale-NUS Weekend?

All meals, accommodation and travel within Singapore for the duration of Experience Yale-NUS are provided by Yale-NUS College, so you won’t have to pay for anything beyond your own snacks and miscellaneous purchases. We’d like to make this trip possible for our students who reside outside of Singapore and highly encourage all invited students to attend. Depending on your location, we’re happy to facilitate your travel logistics and you will receive information on how to contact us when you receive your invitation.
